The Dark Forest started a bit slow, but I really enjoyed it after the first 50 pages. Not as bleak as it threatened to be. 📚
Finally - finally - watched Lost Highway tonight. I love David Lynch. I fell out of watching movies for a long time and I need to fix that. This was a good start.
It's nice to feel some optimism again.
Set up a scheduled build of my site to pull in status updates a couple times a day. Now I can see if it works. 🤞
I set a PR for 10K today and I wasn't trying to. Still not convinced that I'll be able to beat my half marathon PR in 2 weeks, but this is encouraging. 🏃
Had my first fiction writing course today. It's a fascinating group and an engaging instructor. I walked out with a decent idea and some much-needed clarity about the sort of writing I'd like to do.
I just realized I've been reading Winesburg, Ohio while listening to Willoughby Tucker, I'll Always Love You. I think they complement one another though they're separated by 100 years.
🏃Week ending 2025-10-19: 24.2 miles. Ran the Race for Rescue 5K on the 19th and placed 3rd in my age group (out of 7, but I still got a medal).
Winesburg, Ohio: I enjoyed this more than I felt like I did while I was reading it. I'll go back and reread it one day. 📚
Been getting back to working on tkr. It's fun - I really do enjoy this project and I'm learning a lot.
I went to New York City this weekend and did some quality brewery-hopping. I've seriously neglected Evil Twin. I'll correct that in the future.
Going to switch to a weekly recap of physical activities so that it's less of a deluge (and so I don't have to update as often).
11.70 miles @ 9:24/mile. Yesterday: 4.55 miles @ 9:15/mile. 🏃
I'm seriously considering digging a pit in my backyard and inviting everyone I know over for a pig roast.
7.56 miles @ 9:29/mile 🏃
4.51 miles @ 9:20/mile 🏃
4.47 miles @ 8:31/mile. 18 min @ 7:45/mile. 🏃
You have the inclination to be alone and to dream and you are afraid of dreams.
I hiked with goats this weekend! I highly recommend it if you have the chance.
2025-09-27: 7.63 miles @ 9:45/mile 🏃
2025-09-26: 6.26 miles @ 9:27/mile. Starting to feel better. 🏃
Recording all these runs has given me an idea: letting people define post categories based on emoji, and making corresponding filtered rss and atom feeds.
Really enjoyed Ministry of Time. Good stories about time travel aren't ABOUT TIME TRAVEL, and this is one of those. 📚
2025-09-24: 5.32 miles @ 9:30/mile - 9x10s @ 5:15/mile 🏃- definitely overtraining. Time to take more rest days.
